This is probably a really vague question, but what is the best way to start "going indie"? (By that I mean a self sustained single developer that does it for a living).
I've always worked on the concept that if you can make a small tablet/phone game and either generate unit sales (unlikely) or make ad revenue (more likely) or add in microtransactions (unsure) then that would hopefully get you enough to allow you to leave your day job and focus more on full-time development work.
That said I'm not exactly a business headed person, so I'm wondering if there are other options out there I'm not considering.
Any help/advice people can give would be top notch.
If videogames taught me anything, it's that if you are facing new challenges then you are going the right way.
